New figures show that tech product searches are proving popular among European web users this Christmas, with Nintendo and Apple together comprising the top-three most searched for products.

The latest report from comScore has revealed that Nintendo Wii has been the most searched-for gadget in the UK, France and Germany, with 3.7 million searches per week during November's first three weeks.

Apple's iPod was named the second most desired product in terms of search activity, with the Nintendo DS coming in third across the three countries.

Meanwhile, the company's iPhone is proving to be the most popular phone, according to comScore's search figures.

Bob Ivins, comScore executive vice-president of European Markets, said: "The interesting aspect of this study is identifying which products are generating the most consumer searches, which can provide retailers and manufacturers with important insight into the underlying consumer demand for each specific product."

Hitwise has reported that the UK's Wii shortage is boosting the popularity of dedicated Wii-sourcing sites.
