20/06/08

BRIGHTON, England, June 20, 2008 - iCrossing (http://www.icrossing.co.uk/), a global digital marketing company, last night presented its new major arts award to local artist Tim Slatter.

Tim received his prize from Arjo Ghosh, CEO of iCrossing UK at iCrossing’s Awards Night at myhotel in Brighton. As a part of the Award, Tim will be nurtured by iCrossing for a year, including exhibitions of work in iCrossing’s Brighton and London offices with a series of cultural events linking the exhibitions to iCrossing’s business.

Tim and three other local artists, Lucy Cash, Rich Townsend and Rob Peel were short listed by a 10-member judging panel of iCrossing staff who reviewed their work and that of 16 other artists selected from more than 1,000 who exhibited as part of the Artists Open Houses initiative in Brighton and Hove.  The remaining 200 members of iCrossing staff voted online for their favourite artist from the shortlist to decide the winner.

Tim comments: “This award is a wonderful recognition of the creativity and innovation that local artists bring to Brighton. I’m looking forward to continuing that tradition through the award exhibitions and events over the next year.”

iCrossing is the new major sponsor of Artists Open Houses, winner of Best Cultural Event in the 2007 Brighton & Hove Business Awards. AOH was open for four weekends in May during the Brighton Festival and will feature again for two weekends leading up to Christmas. It is the largest open house event in the UK.

Arjo Ghosh, chief executive officer of iCrossing in the UK comments: “The quality of artists’ work this year was exceptional and the judges had some tough choices to make. Tim has a unique talent and we’re delighted to give him the long-term support he deserves. Building connections between arts and business has been a passion for me since I founded Spannerworks, now iCrossing, in Brighton 11 years ago. I believe that this award and sponsorship will bring positive developments for both arts and business.”

Rhoda Barker, press officer at AOH comments: “This award means that AOH can extend its reach beyond Brighton and I’m sure that all local artists will benefit from the support that iCrossing continues to give to this vibrant community.”
