Ad distribution networks 'increase sales'
1 October 2007
Being part of a wide network of advertising websites increases sales, according to Yahoo!.
In a Yahoo! Search Marketing blog post, the search engine asserts that there are a number of benefits to having commercials spread across a number of sites.
"Being part of an ad distribution network - and not just advertising on a single site - can help you reach a wider audience," the portal explains.
This in turn can "create better brand awareness, get more customers and increase your sales".
Meanwhile, Yahoo! advertisers are reminded that they are already part of such a network.
Their promotional messages appear not just on Yahoo! websites, but also on domains such as MTV and eBay.
A recent blog post by marketing manager Michael Mattis urged webmasters to optimise their content for a wide range of keywords in the run-up to Christmas.
Terms such as "Hanukkah" or more general phrases like "gift for dad" may present a better return on investment than bidding on "Christmas", he advised.
