AdWords users told to upgrade
27 September 2007
Users of Google's AdWords software should upgrade to the latest version by October 3rd, the search engine advises.
AdWords Editor 4.0 was recently released by the firm and supersedes the previous version 3.5.
But in order to preserve any comments, users must export their account to an archive file and restore it to its current state once the upgrade is complete.
"After October 3rd 2007, version 3.5 will no longer be supported," Inside AdWords crew member Trevor asserts in a post on the service's official blog.
"Old versions of AdWords Editor are retired 60 days after new versions are released in order to optimise our resources," he explains.
Those wishing to switch to the newer version are told to login to their accounts and follow the automatic prompts which should appear.
New features introduced in this version include reporting on mobile advertisements and campaign-specific posting of changes.
Meanwhile, potentially damaging details such as competitor keywords and sites may be posted to multiple campaigns at once, Google states.
