Yahoo! expands search results
4 October 2007
Search engine Yahoo! is offering new features in the latest incarnation of its software, it has been revealed.
Vish Makhijani of Yahoo! Search explains in a Yodel Anecdotal blog post that users may now expect to see suggestions on how they may expand their search terms to yield more specific results.
Yahoo! Search Assist also incorporates media such as images and video into text results to eliminate the need to switch between pages, Mr Makhijani comments.
"In testing Search Assist, we found that users were 61 per cent more successful in completing their task with this new search feature at their disposal," he asserts.
"We took some liberties with the search box itself, turning it into an interactive experience that senses when you need a hand," the author elaborates.
Editor Nicki Dugan recently observed that Yodel Anecdotal reached 65th in the Techmeme leaderboard, a snapshot of the most frequently visited blogs, with a 0.29 per cent presence among blog comment headlines.
